Tickets to Machu Picchu are sold out in August and September

According to the Ministry of Culture’s official website, tickets to Machu Picchu are sold out for the months of August and September.

The most popular routes, Circuits 2 and 3, will be unavailable during these months. Only Circuit 1 will be available in September. We strongly recommend booking your Machu Picchu tickets well in advance to secure your preferred date and circuit.

If you’re looking for Machu Picchu last-minute tickets, visiting Aguas Calientes is the last option, the town at the base of Machu Picchu, where 1,000 tickets are released daily. However, this option is in high demand, during the high tourist season the line are bigges and usually this Machu Picchu are sold out in a part hours. Many travelers choose this route, so you must arrive early to the Ministry of Culture office in Aguas Calientes. 

It is very important you have informed to travel to Aguas Calientes, usually the tickets are sold out 24 hours before to visit. there are new Machu Picchu rules in Aguas Calientes that permit to get the ticket 2 day before to visit. in case it is sold out, any travel company, cant get the additional ticket, don’t take any risks. reserve your ticket in advance, in case you dont have a Machu Picchu ticket, we recommend you change the date travel or planne to visit other sites like Choquequirao or Vilcabamba.

Here’s how it works:

  • Arrive early to Aguas Calientes and join the line at the Ministry of Culture office.
  • The Ministry of Culture is open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • There are five available counters. You will be allowed to enter and purchase your ticket according to your place in line.
  • If you arrive too late, you may not be able to purchase a ticket for the next day.
  • If tickets are sold out, try to purchase one for the next available date.
  • The ticketing process is in person and requires your original passport and identification.
  • You cannot choose your circuit; the available option depends on what’s left at the time of purchase.

To avoid stress and uncertainty, it’s best to plan ahead and purchase your Machu Picchu tickets in advance.
